What I'm Reading Now

DECEMBER, 2016

SUMMER & FALL...so many books I forgot to post!

AUGUST, 2016

I chose this from The Book of the Month Club.  Since I buy most books on Kindle sales, it's wonderful to have a new, crisp hardcover in my hands.  So far, I'm enjoying this story.

Madeleine L'Engle is one of my favorite essay writers, mingling art, writing, creativity, and faith in beautiful stories.

This is research for my art classes.  I want to better understand how my students' personalities affect their approach to art and how I can assist them.

I downloaded this audiobook from my library.  I always need an audio book on hand for drives and workouts and housecleaning!

MARCH, 2016

This is the March selection for my high school lit group.

She was a recommended author from Modern Mrs. Darcy, but this one hasn't hooked me.  I plan to finish it, though.
I've heard much gushing about this one.  I've started the first chapter and am mesmerized by the wonderful writing.
I gave one of these to my oldest friend on a recent girls' weekend and I bought one for myself.  I love Shauna's conversational, heartfelt words... a little each morning.
I'm still using this to guide my prayer time for my children.

JANUARY/FEBRUARY, 2016

Gretchen's easy to read style makes this book on habit formation interesting and inspiring.  I'm always drawn to books like this in the new year.
I'm reading this with my daughter, the Civil War history lover and her high school literature group.  It's hefty at 956 pages, but it's easy to read and has wonderful elements of history, drama, humor, and romance.  It's challenged some of my thoughts on the confederacy viewpoint, and I've found it interesting to read a book where the main characters are people you love to hate.

This was a quick read and touching modern-day story with moral implications.  I'm excited to see the movie coming out in June.

My friend lent me this book as a way to hone in on some habits I want to change by focusing on ONE THING at a time.  It's written by a real estate mogul, but is very accessible for the stay-at-home mom who wants to address some nagging areas of her life.

I've been reading a chapter each morning as I pray for my kids in a more deliberate way and keeping track in a journal.

I was so excited when one of my art students gave me a Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas.  I knew right away I would splurge on this gorgeous interior decorating book that completely captures my taste in decorating.  It did not disappoint.

  1. I have read at least 5 of these books, a few in the last year. Quite a variety there!

    1. I'm definitely not a narrow-genre reader! I don't update this often. I stay more current on Goodreads.
